SIS builds and runs winter test proving ground for China Automotive Technology and Research Center

On the 21 of September 2010 an agreement was reached between SIS Asian Development Ltd and China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) about cooperation in the field of winter tests in China. SIS is to design, construct and run a brand new state of the art winter test proving ground in Jiamusi, Heilong Jiang. The proving ground is owned by CATARC and will start operating already December 2010, and will provide workshops, ice tracks and land tracks of a quality according to Swedish standard .

-“We are very proud and honored that we have been chosen by CATARC to cooperate with them in this project, and we will do our best to make this proving ground to a “state of the art” proving ground in China. We are not making a copy of a Swedish proving ground – as the conditions in China is different in many ways – but we will use our long experience and know-how to create excellent conditions needed by CATARC in order to perform their important work”, said Jorgen Stenberg, CEO and partner in SIS Asian Development.

Responsible for the project is technical expert Kenneth Wallbom and coordination manager Zhu Dan.

Shanghai Volkswagen rents RVATC


An agreement has been reached between RVATC and Shanghai Volkswagen on renting the RVATC proving ground in Heihe during the winter 2010/11. This means that the RVATC proving ground will be exclusively used by SVW, for this year. Talks have already started on a long term cooperation between the two companies.

As an alternative to the other customers, is the tracks made on the Heilong Jiang river –“River Proving Ground”- and also intensive work is being to scout new areas around Heihe where tracks can be made in order to meet the rising demand of winter test facilities.

Kenneth , Max and Faith to Heihe


Because of the the demand for SIS services in China, two new Swedish experts have been recruited and will work in Heihe this winter season. Technical manager Kenneth Eriksson and technical assistant Max Stenberg. Kenneth has many years experience as a test driver, and is working with tires since some years. He has also a wide experience of all kind of machinery and has also been an instructor training test drivers.

Max Stenberg is the youngest son of the Stenberg family, and have grown up in the automotive world. He made his first driving training when he was 12 years old, and has experience as a racing driving in the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championships. He is also a assistant driving training instructor.
